Terms and conditions

Design & Consultation:

All our cakes are made to order. We offer a free, no obligation consultation, and one wedding cake tasting; additional tastings are chargeable. Any cake ordered from a picture or a photograph will be reproduced as our interpretation of that cake, it will not be an exact replica.

Orders & Deposits:

We prefer a minimum of three months for wedding cakes, and one month for celebration cakes, however we will accept short notice cakes subject to our availability. We require a £100 non-refundable deposit for all wedding cake orders. The remaining balance is due twenty eight days prior to the event and we accept cash or BACS transfer. Payment must be received twenty eight days prior to the event or the contract will be cancelled and your deposit will not be refunded. The date of your final payment is the final date for any changes of size, style or flavours to the cake. Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges. Payment for celebration cakes should be received in full seven days prior to collection.

Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel your order for any reason more than twenty eight days prior to the event, the £100 deposit is non-refundable and any preparation work i.e. sugar work may be charged for. Any cancellations made after the twenty eight days will be charged at 75% of the full price.

Collection & Delivery Set up:

You are welcome to collect your cake  prior to the event at a pre-arranged date and time.

We advise for two tier cakes or more that you may wish to take advantage of our delivery and set up service which is free within a 10 mile radius of Bassingbourn, mileage charged thereafter at £1.60 per mile. Please contact us for a delivery quotation.  Please note that once a cake has been delivered / collected it becomes the responsibility of the customer.

Ingredients:

All our ingredients are of the highest quality, locally sourced where possible and eggs are always free range. Please advise us if you are thinking of keeping a tier and freezing for a later date

Storage:

Sugar Paste (the soft icing covering the cake) is not designed to be refrigerated and as such cakes with icing should be stored in a cool, dry place, preferably in the box they were supplied in.

Allergies:

Our products may contain or come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts and other allergens. You agree to notify your guests of this risk and hold us harmless for alleged reactions. It is your responsibility to make us aware of any allergies and dietary requirements. The allergens in your cake will be supplied to you or your caterers.

Stand Hire:

We have a number of stands, tiered stands, mirrors, log slices, slates, table linen, and fairy lights that are available to hire with our cakes and cupcakes but please discuss any specific requirements you may have. A refundable deposit of £50 is required and will be held until all goods are returned, which must be within three working days following your event (unless alternative arrangements have been agreed prior to the event). Any damage or loss will be charged for.

Cakes with fresh flowers or non-edible materials:

We are happy to liaise with your florist regarding the supply and placement of fresh flowers on your cake. You acknowledge fresh flowers are not a food product and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt or other contaminants. Please note that some fresh flowers are not suitable for use on cakes and it is your responsibility to ensure that the flowers you have chosen are safe to come into contact with food. Your order may also contain non edible items such as wired sugar flowers, ribbons, flower picks, dowels, etc.  Please ensure the catering team are aware of this so that these can be removed prior to serving.

Publication:

We reserve the right to use any image of a cake made by Wisteria Cake Company for publication at a later date.  We may publish our designs on our website, in printed publications and post online on social media.
